How long will it take to receive exam results?
Scores are processed and communicated by email within four weeks of the exam date. All scores are kept confidential and only you will be informed of your score. You must sign an Examination Score Release Form to authorize a third party to receive your score results.

All ABA Professional Certifications exams are electronically scored using advanced methods of statistical analysis. After preliminary exam results are received for a particular exam, the advisory board has a conference call to discuss the preliminary results and to determine the exam’s pass/fail standard using a criterion-referenced methodology. This defines the performance standard and degree of difficulty for each item. Questions may or may not be deleted from scoring based on this discussion of items “flagged” for review and based on the comments/critiques from the exam candidates. Your score is based on your personal performance measured against these standards, not based on a composite “grade curve” for a group or date. Scores are recorded based on a “Pass/Fail” system.

All questions for an exam are scored twice by computer. During the scoring process, a variety of electronic and manual quality controls are conducted to ensure accuracy. The exam results are then finalized and prepared in the form of a score report, which is then emailed to the exam candidate.

What is the passing score?
The pass/fail cutoff score is determined after the exam is administered and after the conference call with the advisory board. It is based on the difficulty of each item on the exam as explained above. The pass/fail cutoff score varies from exam to exam based on the overall difficulty of the exam.
